A blog dedicated to MMOGAMERS and their ideas and bring the MMO gaming community together.

Fires of London!!!

I'm excited to say Hellgate London is coming back.  This time as a F2P MMO.  I enjoyed playing it back when it was running and it'll be nice to see it running again.  It's a SciFi Fantasy MMO that deals with the darker side of life.  The gates of hell break open in London and you are the guardian who destroys the evil within.  The combat is very fun and I can't wait!

Updates!

The world of MMOs is growing to substantial sizes these days due to popularity and public demand.  ARGO has finally been pushed to full release a decent F2P model based off of a steam punk theme.  Well worth the look.  Sony keeps attempting to cover up the true mistakes they've been making with their networks but promise to compensate at least the U.S. portion for now by offer free Identity protection for a year.  Currently they are working on sending that out and should be received in your emails.  This is finally a good decision for Sony considering free gear and everything else just doesn't amount to protection of the real problem.  I feel bad for all the people being effected by this tragic network crisis but at least we can only hope it will be fixed and maybe even designed better.  Star Wars the Old Republic is rumored to be pushed even further into the future because they want to make sure the beta test are sufficient which is good news but not surprising at all.  It'll be nice to see what comes up in the mean time.

To the Core of Spiral

I haven't had the opportunity to play it yet but here is a pretty interesting browser based MMO called Spiral Knights.  I came acrossed it when I was looking at Browser MMOs through boredom lol.  It's free 2 Play and it's created by Sega.  It's pretty new considering it just got released this month.  The world is ever changing and it's built to be an ever expanding dungeon crawler to the center of the core.  To find out the secrets of the world.  So far it is completely free from the looks of things and your character isn't based upon any certain class.  You evolve by the weapons you use in your arsnal and you adapt to the area you are fighting in.  Should be pretty fun and when I get a chance to try it you'll be the first to hear it.

After giving the introductory a try it is pretty intuitive and sucked me in right away.  It's like a cross between Zelda and Megaman and I was highly impressed.  The wait time from registering and playing was about 30 seconds and it is worth trying.  I can't wait to get some more time to play :)

Many Apologizes

I've been rather out of it as of late and I'm sorry for not updating you on the latest of the MMO world.  I haven't really been keeping up to date very well even for myself and I'll try to get back into it.  When I hear something of importance though be sure that you will be able to hear it from me.

Protect the Players!

So Rift has created an authenticator to protect your account from hackers along with the coin locks.  It's nice to see they are looking out for the valuable time of the players.  It's surprising to see a company come so quickly to a solution, but being that Rift is becoming a huge setting for the MMO community it definitely needs it.  The popularity rises for Rift and it's definitely deserving.  It's a great game and very well planned out.  Make sure you protect your accounts today!

Black Prophecy: U.S. closed beta has started

Black Prophecy is a SciFi space shooter alot like EVE but way more action with emthysis to get you right inot the fight and have control of your ship. This is a must try game and is now shooting to get beta players in the U.S. So sign up and get in line to give this baby a try!

Edit: So I gave Black Prophecy a try today and it was simply amazing.  The cut scenes were great and the action was awesome!  The controls to the space craft were simply astonishing.  I could move back and forth with ease it was designed perfectly with fluid motion.  I was very impressed.  I think this game is going to be a very big hit and everyone should give it a try!

SyFy's MMO Named

So SyFy has been promising us an MMO for a while now the cooperates with a new show they will be showing.  With little to know about it other then it's a Sci Fi shooter being made by Trion we have little to go with.  It has been announced officially that it will be named Defiance!  Gathering from the success of Rift I hope to see this game turn out with the same sort of dedication.  With the standards that Trion has put out for us so far I think it will be rather impressive.  We need a good Sci Fi MMO.

DC Download

DC Universe is now for digital download on the PSN.  So for $59.99 you can buy it for your PS3.  The normal monthly fees still apply but now you can play with your controller on your HD tv, unless you do that already. ;)

Writers Wanted!

Looking for dedicated MMO gamers who want to share updates about their games and experiences.  No one is excluded you just need to play MMOs and have a passion to inform the public!  Write on your own time and even have your own topic.  Send your requests to eternity336@iammmogamer.com

Beta Beware!

Several scammer have been sending out false beta invites to suspecting want to be beta testers for Star Wars: The Old Republic.  Being that the game has a huge following it's not hard to see this happening.  Bioware has recently put out a warning to all the fans about there beta invites:

"If you are invited to the real Game Testing Program, you will receive an e-mail with instructions from no-reply@bioware.swtor.com. Any other e-mail address claiming to offer an invitation is likely to be a scam. If you receive an e-mail and are in doubt or are concerned about its validity, please forward your concerns to bwacommunitysupport@bioware.com. If you do receive a genuine testing invitation from us, you will also be able to view the invitation and testing information at www.swtor.com/tester."

Make sure to be diligently checking your e-mails properly and don't fall to the scams.  E-mail phishing is a big issue and it can ruin allot more then just a beta invite!  So be safe and good luck!

Cabal Of The Future

A few years back i was desperately searching for a new MMO to play and I was promptly suggested Cabal.  It never really worked  for me though because I had an inferior laptop at the time.  Now in the making is Cabal 2.  A promising look of graphics and action but not much is said about the game itself.  They say a picture is a thousand words but I've seen even that to be deceiving!  Even then this will probably be a cool game to check out in some free time after it's release.  It will most likely be free 2 play like it's counter part but who knows.

Mouse Break!

What do you look for in an mmo?  There are several different methods being implimented these days but typically the WoW style seems to be the easy hit.  There are many more flavors out there though dealing with how real or guided you want your experience.  For the MMOs designed for the player the create around them is a much slower and sometimes even less appealing type of play even though by pure discription it sounds like a great idea.  It is all what you have to put in it and for those with little time I see the guided tour being the way to go.  The biggest question though is why do you play MMOs?  I play for the ever growing giant worlds and the companionship of friends from time to time.  This is hardly ever given in the single player experience.  Please feed me your comments and let me know how you feel about it.  The more I know the better my posts will be tailored to what you as my readers want!

Vindictus Database!

I haven't really played it enough to talk too much about it but Vindictus also has a database.  From what I have played it's a pretty fun game and the story is pretty compelling.  The physics and action in the game is pretty intense and it's worth giving a try.  Plus it's free!

Rift Database!

For all of you gamers out there that loved Thotbot, Wowhead, and many of those other links to help progress in your game playing, there is now a site for Rift!  ZAM is a database to see what items are in the game and even to make your own soul builds and compare.  Right from the start it seems that Rift has gotten a pretty big following.  It's no surprise it's a pretty polished game right from that start.  So make sure to use the tools given you :)

Japan Relief!

Global Agenda
Global Agenda is giving 100% of there proceeds from Global Agenda Purchases to American Red Cross's Japan Relief!  Also for 10$ that's practically a steal for such a great game.  The best part is that this MMO has NO monthly fees it's a great play and worth the buy.  Support the relief!

Flash Point Show n' Tell

The latest Developer walk through for Star Wars: The Old Republic show a in depth look at one of there flash points.  I have to say I'm mighty impressed and frankly I'm seriously excited for it's release.  It looks challenging yet doable and very fun.  The only thing I found slightly odd was, why does the Jedi have to pull items out of the ground?  They already have ducking spots for smugglers so they should have items lying around to be thrown.  But that's a matter of opinion I guess.

March PvP Madness!!!

I know I haven't talked about Aion at all but for any of you interested in where it's going right now you can get your old accounts activated starting March 24th thru March 31st.   They are doing a massive reactivation for old players so they can try to bring on the PvP.

March is starting off PvP Madness and it's supposed to reduce the normally high buffs and penalties that deter people from PvPing.  So play free and get your PvP on!

Autobots Roll Out!

Not too much information is released on a New Transformers MMO being designed  right now but it will be developed by Jagex the company that has produced the much loved title Runescape.  It's projected to be released sometime in 2012!  Only time will tell whether this will be a success or not.

Mouse Break!

How much of a gamer are you?  Do you tend to ignore the world just to fill it with games or is it just a temporary fix?  Games envelope the world these days and with the higher demand the more it's around.  Games have pretty taken over every part of our lives.  We have games on our phones, Internet, TV, handhelds, and pretty much any where else you can imagine.  Finely they are bringing in the lifestyle aspect and making games more of a healthy lifestyle.  True at home virtual reality is just around the corner.  Are you ready for the next step?

Blog App

Currently working on designing an app for your android phones out there so you can participate with IAMMMOGAMER on the go.  At the moment it's under construction :)  When it's done I'll be sure to tell you about it!

Here's an app for all of you Android users.  If I make one better I'll be sure to let you know!

Guilds for the ready!

Star Wars: The Old Republic has a guild recruiting page set up for recruiting before release!  Helping to get the community assembled even before we play.  Bioware has seen the community and they are trying everything they can to get us in before the game becomes ready.
I have already set up a guild name IAMMMOGAMER in case any of you readers out there are willing to. Show your pride!  It's set up for the Empire side of the house considering I plan on being a Bounty Hunter from the start.  Go BOBAFETT :) So get in there and register your allegiance!

8bit Hurray!

A very impress game called 8Bit is being designed by a bright individual name Aion.  I was very impressed with the easy design and ease into the game.  Plus lots of pretty cool people to hang around.  The mechanics are great and there are plenty of options to keep you busy for quite some time.  For some extra cash you can buy pieces to develop your character a bit more but the focus is that it doesn't go towards boosting your stats or anything.  it is simply to help the developer and to give you a more unique you.  I think this game is a must try for any of you out there that like to design and have fun.

You can design your own castle and defend it from evil monsters or you can even PvP in certain areas.  The choice is yours to what you actually do.  The graphics are a bit out dated for all you Unreal Engine fans but it's truly not about the realism.  It's just about having fun.  I think this is a great game and I recommend it!

Pending Data Transfer...

There are a ton of MMOs out there I think you guys would be seriously interested in.  Currently I am trying out about 5 of them.  As soon as I can get my head together I'll be informing you guys on each one.  It takes alot of work to get this together :)  and hardrive space.  Need more room!!!  Anyways I have allot of exciting things to tell you guys when I get a chance to and please stay tuned.

To the Gamers Arsenal!

STEAM is a must have for ALL PC gamers.  I don't care if you play MMOs or not this is the best way for allot of things.  Getting connected with friends, getting involved in your favorite gaming community, keeping track of your games and best of all DISCOUNTS!  I can't tell you the hundreds of dollars I've saved waiting for great deals and nabbing it the second I can.  It's essentially the free connection of Xbox Live but for PC.  I also have a community site on steam called IAMMMOGAMER.  If it can become a big community we can then start associating things with it.  Perhaps a cross MMO guild or many other things.

The Future For Your Pocket!

The Razor Switchblade is the latest and great idea coming out for gaming in your pocket.  No bigger then a netbook but has full function to play any MMO you want with the customization of a dream.  This right here is a concept but it's already a reality and they have already let people get a chance to see it.  It has touch screen and interchanging keys to fit any kind of gaming style you like.  With WiFi and 3G capabilities you should ever have a problem playing on the go.  This little baby is a must have for every gamer out there on the move.  I know I want one :)

Frak! I've been hit!

Battlestar Galactica is a new MMO created by SyFy.  It's a browser based game and it's run surprisingly well.  Though I haven't seem to get any interest into it.  I haven't ever been much for flying in space.  You do get your own avatar and depending on which route you go Cylon or Human you still get to walk around and everything.  Being in a Raptor is pretty cool and the game play plays alot like EVE.  Though I think it's a little more involving. It's still in Beta and I don't think it's a huge hit so it might be a bad idea if you're looking for a crowd, but if you like Battlestar and you want to try something new this is certainly the way to do it and it's free!

APB: Reloaded Update!

So with a little bit of time spent it seems the game hasn't changed much at all.  They moved around some of the terminals and the tweaked some things here and there but ultimately it's pretty close to the same game.  The shooting is better and so is the driving.  I think ultimately it is a better game because of the tweaks but the questing still sucks.  The customization is still there and it's still off the chain.  For free this game is worth every penny spent :)

It's RELOADED!

Being accepted onto the streets of San Paro I will be giving you information about the new design of APB: Reloaded!  I really hope for some great changes considering the let down it was originally.  I can honestly say though it had THEE best customization I have ever had my hands on and I hope to see at least that still in the game.  Really the huge improvement needed before was the game.  After I actually get the game on my computer and get a chance to get in I'll get you informed!  But mind you it is still in Beta and anything can happen!  First wave here I come!

Space for life!

Currently Bungie is working with Activision to make an unknown MMO.  Rumors and on the worst terms claim it'll be called "Destiny".  Personally I think we'll prolly see many changes on this as the time passes but what I do know is that it'll be a SciFi themed shooter.  What I keep hearing is that it's going to be WoW in space.  Now this kinda upsets me because the description isn't even close.  It's supposed to be designed after an amazing match system for PvP.  Now I'm no expert but if I was to compare it to anything I would compare it to Global Agenda.

Global Agenda is all PvP (yes it has PVE but it doesn't count). It could use some improvements but it's free lol.  If I happen to see any concrete news on this topic be sure to hear it from me.

Edit: Massively reported today that Bungie came out and said that the MMO rumor isn't true.  They aren't making an MMO at all! Well this comes to a big disappointment to all those Halo fans out there but there are plenty of other opportunities out there.

YEAH! Bounty Hunters!

So I've been a huge fan of Boba Fett ever since I can remember.  Thinking of him as thee ultimate B.A.  Still think that to this day.  Well the Old Republic has allowed IGN to release this new videos for more of the Bounty Hunter class.  I definitely have to say I'm even more excited then I was before.
With this being in the making for YEARS it's been highly anticipated by all.  We can only hope it will be coming out soon.  They say it'll be out this year but anything could happen.  I would like to keep a positive mind though and keep my thoughts to it's release.

Customize your Online Experience!

Some us are dieing for a way to make our own games and just make something that screams out YES, I made that!  Well the tools are at your disposal with Atmosphir!  I rarely have time to actually sit down and create something but right here is a pretty handy tools to be able to make your own levels and games and share them with friends for free.  Now I know I know it's not really an MMO but it does have Online play with friends and it's pretty cool to take a look at if you ever have the time.  Plus free is nice :)  The catch is in order to get really nice things such as better models and the such you need to pay for them but I'm pretty sure you can make something pretty cool even with just the tools they give you.

MMO For Your Mobile

SpaceTime Studios is the leader in MMO gaming on your mobile phones.  Currently out is Pocket Legends which is a pretty neat designed MMO based off of furry animals in your typical classes.  The game is free to play and has a cash shop for items.  There's isn't too many option for the game play and it's created to be relatively simple but it has a really nice concept and it run great on the Droid.
In the future SpaceTime Studios has a SciFi game planned called Blackstar.  Very little details are out on it but you can sign up at there website for more news.  It should be a pretty cool game and I'm looking forward to seeing what they can come up with.
Both these games are for the Ipad, Iphone and Android systems.

Rift from day 1!

So I was playing for a few hours last night and I made a character on Freeholme with the guardians.  I typically like to start out being the idea good guy.  Named my character TheeOx.  Out of the three choices human, dwarf, or High elf I picked elf.  Mainly for the flying.  Don't get the words confused though.  What it really amounts to is out of combat controlled distance jumping.  On a short cooldown.  Not sure of the usefulness just yet because its not an escape tool when out of combat but I guess it could be used to pounce someone.

My basics thoughts so far for this game is that is does have a nice clean setup for pve and it looks really great!  The fighting style is a bit boring at first (I picked a warrior). But that should change as I tailor my character.  I recommend getting the collectors addition because the extra bag space in itself will become useful.

Talents are put between 3 souls, you get 3 original souls from quests right at the beginning.  Later on you can switch them out to make a customized class.  I'm not sure yet but I'm pretty sure you can combine the mage, rogue, cleric or warrior together later.  For now I've only been given the choice of warrior souls.  I base this belief though off of weapon suggestions.

As a correction to this you do not have access to interchanging your class.  Just the 8 souls you have to choose from in your class and the PvP build.  So there is still alot of room for your own build choce but limited only by your class.  Sorry for the over excitment. :)

Combat is pretty easy to get into and the controls are basically built off of a typical MMO control.  You run out of buttons really fast though and I need to look into what I can do with the UI.  Otherwise it's a pretty clean game and if you want to get away from the cartoonie look of WoW this game is great!

The Hot News!

With Rift being the big shot right now I have officially bought it and will be playing tonight.  I plan on giving a review as soon I can.  It's offical release was today but it's been out and around for awhile with the exclusive Open Beta.  From the word around it sounds like it should be a pretty solid game and I'm looking forward to making my own uniquely tailored class.

With MMOs these days they seem to be flying around like hot cakes.  Not being as easy to stick to one as it was back in the day when there were very few to choose from.  With the added ADD to the mix it really hard not to want to follow the crowd to the next best thing.

Nuked Out!

Fallout Online a really good idea but will it pass the test of the fallout series we have grown to love?  I wish I knew.  The tormenting tiny email hints they send seem to give me no hope as to what is to come.  I want to see footage and a site full of material!  So the big question is what's the big secret?  Looking through the email links it seems to have some pretty odd ideas for weapons.  One looks like it's almost from Gears of War.  Interplay is laid claim that they will indeed start the beta tests in the early 2012 and have the game out my the second half of 2012. (By Eurogamer)  Will it be worth it?  We will see!

What do you want?

This is a blog about MMOs, online gaming, game ideas, and experiences.  I want this blog to represent you so please give me your feedback on what you would like to hear about.  I want to get you details about games you've never heard about and absolutely have to try!  Also get your feedback and plan some events!  Everything starts from some where and I've started it.  Now I just need you!  What's your favorite genre?  What genre do you want to see utilized more?  Do you like PvP or PVE?  Do you play with low age tech or are you up to date?  I would like to help you out in all these areas.  Leave some comments and lets get at it!

Super you!

DC Universe is all about making you the new Hero/Villain in Gotham City.  You start out with a mentor of sorts and get guided along on your path to saving or taking over the world.  There are many items to choose form to make your character for the most part pretty unique and weather you are good or bad you can make you character look like either.  Now you aren't tied down to one look and if you find something better down the line you can change it.  The one thing I felt was kind of a pain was the three color limit you were set to for you costume, but that's neither here nor there.

You get three choices fly, speed, or acrobats.  None of them really limit you too bad and you just as agile with one choice as you are the next.  You don't have a stamina bar for these items so as long as you aren't fighting or being attacked you can go as long as you want.  You are super "human" by the way.

The fighting in the game is pretty cool and quite simple but limits you to 6 buttons.  Which can be quite irritating when you have about 20 choices and you want to use all of them.  I find it funny that a can of cola is your health item.  most of your attacks are button combinations through your mouse which makes fighting pretty easy.  I found though that since it is a new game the respawn rate on the enemies was way too high and it might be a good idea to stick with groups of friends.

The PvP was okay but you play as an iconic character and I personally didn't really like it.

PVE events were pretty fun and keep you engaged, and have a lot going on in them.  They brought the story to the table in a pretty fun way.  Plus the boss fights were pretty challenging and fun.  The events were essentially your dungeons though I would say they still aren't as elaborate as something you would find in WoW.

Communication with friends tending to be a pain and very difficult to get at.  I think they should really make this an easy feature to get to.  Though there event system (dungeon finder) was very easy to manage.  Over all I think the game was fun but I don't know if I would consider myself dedicated to it.

Pirates in SPACE!

An adventure for free and looks amazing!  Allods is a fantasy adventure you can't pass up.  With two dueling factions you level yourself up to an eventual dual in astral space.  Guild run ship float through astral space taking on amazing conflicts.

This is one of the most exciting free to play games I've ever joined.  I know usually I cringe at the sound of free to play but this one has been great from the beginning.  Unfortunately I haven't played enough to get into the end game details because I get drawn where my friends are.  This game is truly a beauty and if you want to try something new and don't want to spend a dime this is the game.

The graphics are comparable to WoW with it's cartoon look but it truly looks amazing.  Plus it's a lot of fun if you use 3d glasses :)

It is a European game meaning it's not the typical grind grind grind you see in Asian F2P mmos.  I think if you're looking at getting away from the well known this is the way to go!

Global Agenda a monster of SciFi

There are very few choices in the MMO for a truely good MMO.  Global Agenda takes the award for best in my book.  Although if you look at the traditional ideas of MMO it doesn't quite fit the build.  It's doesn't have a very extensive PVE element to it but it is there.  I personally love this game for it's elaborate PvP system.  It's one of the most exciting times I've had ever in PvP.  It has a perfect blend of swords and guns and can tailor to any play style.  There is flying with jetpacks which also adds an addition of fun to the mix.

Many of the players in game are pretty cool and are willing to work with you and have fun and unlike WoW you can actually finish a group PVE mission without worrying if people are going to continuously drop out.  Like I said though this games many goal is the PvP element.  Gear in the game is mainly just for show.  You could literally run around naked and be a great player.  The good thing about this system is that you can be how you want to be.  In order to have better stats you need to use these armor spheres and get good stats on your equipment.  Which is perfectly fine with me :) the fast paced game play reminds me of the good old days of Quake and Unreal Tournament.

There are four classes.  Recon, Robotics, Medic, and Assault.  Recon is your rogue based class.  Which is fast paced and your main duty is to be a sneaking assassin.  Robotics is my favorite class.  You run around making turrets, medical stations, and many other mechanics so that you can buff and save your team.  Basically your pet based class but better.  Though the job is very difficult and keeping your turrets alive can be one of the most challenging things around.  Medics job is pretty obvious but unlike the ideas of priests and all the other healing mechanics out there medic is actually fun.  You go around "shooting" your team mates to keep them alive while healing yourself in the process.  This is an important job and a great combination with our next class the Assault.  Assault is your equivalent to a tank.  Running around with heavy guns and blasting everything in sight.  A very important class for defending.  All classes can be made and they all share the loot and money under one name.  The only loot they don't share is the class specifics.  I actually find this kinda nice.

Agencies are your equivalent to guilds.  They lead you to be able to do AvA which is short for Agency vs Agency.  You have a Hex map which you PvP battle other Agencies for control and for the ultimate title of best Agency.

Higher up items in the game are pretty expensive and it's highly recommended you pay for a booster.  It's worth the money and it doubles everything you need.  it makes leveling alot faster and free tokens.  Basically its like pay a month to month, but on your time.

Ultimately if you love PvP and SciFi this is your game!  See you in game.

The Giant World Of Warcraft!

What makes this giant so big?  Well I believe it just the simplicity it takes to just dive right in.  The complications are there but you never see them until you get into the end game.  When you get there you either die off or become so enveloped you refuse to let it go.  The beauty of its UI is the ability to take great add ons and make the game more to your liking.  Too many MMOs lack the touch of freedom we as gamers need to make it ours.  I also think customization is key though amazingly enough I think this is one thing the great WoW never got.  APB got it right but they ruined the game with it's terrible game play.  People need to be able to bring their creativity in.  That's what gets you hooked and makes you lose out on everything around you.  I've play many many MMOs and none have been as popular as WoW.  Not to say it's the only one worth playing though.  World of Warcraft has been considered the cookie cutter mold that everyone needs to make a successful MMO but I think they are wrong!  The Old Republic seems to have a huge fan base rising out of the ashes.  I think this year we may see a change in history.  Bioware rarely disappoints.
